Dr. Mike's Magnetometers
After a little bit of activity this weekend, it's been dead silent over in the forums from Steorn. With all the new folks joining the forums, at least we've have had some entertainment. I figured I'd share some of Dr. Mike's comments on his upcoming trip to London:
There won't be time to prove anything, but I hope to hook up some magnetometers and 'scopes so I can measure fields at various points in the operational cycle. I'd also like to hook up microswitchs to measure delay times. And I think just touching it and getting a feel for what it's doing will be interesting. If it's got more than 100 Watts power I'll have to careful (might want to rub M'abuse's nose in it ), but I think just giving it some physical drag will tell me a lot.Also today Dr. Mike confirmed that Sean has sent him the PR agencies reasoning for not making the demo dates public. Here's Dr. Mike's opinion on the whole thing:
I will also try to rearrange simple parts to see how things fail. Sometimes it is easier to understand failure than to understand function, and that may give us all some clues as well.
It makes no sense to me. But I'm an engineer/physicist, not a marketing expert!
The person who sent the advice is definitly a marketing expert.

Maybe you could make an audio recording of the running orbo-device.
Then you could perform an analysis of the sound-signal and get and impression of the orbo-timing and delay times.....?
"Also today Dr.Mike confirmed that Sean has sent him the PR agencies reasoning for not making the demo dates public. "
Why did Sean send the PR-information to DrMike?
Is DrMike part of the plot ?
Who will be at the demonstration if no one knows when it is scheduled ?
Invited guests ?
Press ?
Investors ?
Subject: Steorn Profit/Loss
There are three sets of Steorn financials in the public domain. They are;
• Filed Annual Returns
• Filed and audited Financial Statements
• Steorn website financials
It should come as no surprise to anyone that there are inconsistencies amongst the three sets of financials. Sometimes, there are inconsistencies within one set of financials.
I’ve pretty much discounted the Steorn website financials. Steorn has already changed the 2004 and 2005 website financials and removed the 2006 numbers.
The following are yearly profit/loss totals for Steorn as taken from their filed and audited Financial Statements. These statements show that Steorn has lost money each and every year of their existence.
July 2000 – Dec.31, 2001 ---- (249,146) Euros
2002 --- (180,282) Euros
2003 --- (192,661) Euros
2004 --- (971,708) Euros
2005 --- (2,766,356) Euros
These audited financials show that Steorn has been a total failure at every single thing they’ve ever undertaken.
So Steorn has hired a PR company? They had one last year but got rid of them. I recall Sean saying that he didn't follow the PR agencies advice, and that they didn't like it.
To me, 'the PR agency made me do it' is just a variation on 'the lawyers made me do it.' It's an excuse to deflect criticism.
The only difference is that we know that Steorn has lawyers.

A request to drmike (if you read this blog):
Can you ask Sean for the name of some of the physicists who were in the first round of testing? He wouldn't give them to me because I wasn't under NDA and he didn't trust me - I'm interested to see his excuse to you. Thanks.
(hairykrishna)
Keep up the nice analysis Thicket - 8 million in investment since last October is a nice chunk of cash. Maybe they're trying to convince their investors to throw good money after bad now that they have 'discovered' free energy as opposed to another half-assed tech project?
What possible reason could there be to keep the dates and location of a public demonstration secret until it's actually happening? Perhaps their PR agency is giving them damage limitation advice based on the fact that they don't have anything convincing to show. Anyone who drops everything and travels there on short notice has got to be pretty convinced before they see anything...
I'm running up 'my' dynamitron accelerator over the next few days - everyone wish me luck!
"To me, 'the PR agency made me do it' is just a variation on 'the lawyers made me do it.' It's an excuse to deflect criticism."

Exactly.
PR companies, like lawyers, will act under instruction. If you say "I'd like to organise a demo for 5th June in London, can you guys sort out the dates, invites and advertising" they will just go "Sure, no problem". As that is what you, as a customer, are paying them for.
They got themselves into a mess with the Kinetica presentation in that people had bought tickets etc and they didn't have anything to show them. Therefore they just showed an unbelieavabley crappy video.
Ben - no idea what a dynamitron accelerator is, but good luck!!
Ben - I asked about meeting jury members and Sean got mad at me. So
it's not likely I'll get any names either.
What Sean sent was an exchange between his PR guy and their PR firm. As an outsider, I don't understand what is being discussed, nor how Sean comes to the conclusions he does. He has been talking to people for months, so one exchange is not going to explain things. He has his reasoning, we have nothing, and life goes on as always!
@drmike:
Sure he got mad at you. The jury shall remain unknown until their verdict is delivered.
hairykrishna asked you to ask Sean about names of the first round of scientists who confirmed "the Steorn-effect" prior to the jury process.
Forum membership is closed again.
I got banned again, for nothing as far as i am aware, all my comments as jwk_13 are still available.
Either steorn really do not want people to talk to me or they really do not like me!
if anyone has any idea's, requests for babcats old deleted thread, wants idea's on the book Sean sent me (Soul of a new machine) when asked why the forum was so important to him etc feel free to mail me at jwkeva@yahoo.co.uk
(hairykrishna)
Thanks for the reply drmike. As someone else mentioned, I was on about the people who supposedly saw the device 'pre-jury'. Your points valid though - if he got mad at you for asking for jury names I'm sure he would about the pre-testers too. Maybe the engineer from the video? He gave that name to crank and a second opinion would be interesting.
If a pre-testers name was published to the forum can someone who saw it repost it here? Where did it come from if not Steorn themselves?
@father luke duke
Thanks! A dynamitron is a proton accelerator. I fire it into a lithium target to produce neutrons for my BNCT (Boron Neutron Capture Therapy) work. The one we have is a bit temperamental and hasn’t run at full power for a few years….
the steorn forums were opened to control infomration flow.. but most sceptics never went back in.
Lost trust may take years to build, but can be Lost in an instant.
Now that Steorn realizes this blog will continue.. they closed the gates again
great job steorntracker;)
On the public Steorn forum the thread with the name of the scientist that did the early consulting to Steorn has been removed. It included a ban for the n-th time, but it also confirmed that he is the right person.
It's also possible that the scientist has nothing to do with Steorn at all.
The SPDC is probably only a way for Steorn to BS off the record.
The financial information only shows that they are committed to a research an development program which is consistent in their development of OU technology.
Also, there are plenty of reasons why dates and locations are not disclosed until nearer the time. In fact it's actually standard practice.
That's what happens when you get amateurs talking about PR and marketing when they don't have a clue.
I think most of your posters seem to in a clique where reasoning is an abstract concept to them.
Best Wishes,

anonymous,
Most posters here are not enagaging in ad hominem attacks despite repeated provocation.
You are.
QED, as they say. what that says about your mental health is something i will stay away from
@Ping2000
When Apple and Microsoft make an "announcement" they like to have 10,000 people in the audiance. It gets more press that way and lots of press people show up.
I've thrown parties for 50,000 people. It takes months of planning and dozens of people many hours each week to pull it off. And it gets good press.
Not giving exact dates reduces the PR impact and it reduces the turnout. There must be some reason Steorn doesn't want a lot of people to know about the demo. As a skeptic, I have to say I think I know what that reason is, but as a confused observer of Steorn, I must admit it simply makes no sense.
But that's cool - being confused is my normal state :-)
Ping, you are so wrong about PR that it is obvious you have never worked in it.
I have and the only times we have not announced a demo was if there was a > 50% chance the demo would not happen. You want the location and time known as soon as possible and published so that the press can make plans. If the demo will not happen then you wait until the last minute to announce so no one will report about the demo being cancelled.
There is no doubt that Steorn is not sure this demo is going to happen. At this point I think it is less than 50/50. They don't want the press reporting how the demo got cancelled. What a joke.
@anonymous
There is most likely another reason for not publishing the dates locations and it is probably because wack jobs like yourself would probably harass anyone who is linked with this.
Steorn aren't worried about turnout. It's an over unity device so there is no need to raise any more fascination. It is already fascinating to the public.
With a PM device, you don't even need much publicity, so you're argument is pointless.
Ping,
What makes you believe Dr. Bari's consulting company is mainly working for Steorn?
I like to make stuff up - it's entertaining. Otherwise we'd have nothing to talk about.
Ping
"Also, there are plenty of reasons why dates and locations are not disclosed until nearer the time. In fact it's actually standard practice."
-----
But you aren't going to tell us what those reasons are? Are you sure that announcing demos on the SAME DAY as they are to take place is "standard practice"? Heheh.
As if any science journalists are just going to get an invite on the morning an come running to watch a load of perpetual motion clowns later in the day. Especially after the debacle of their last "demo".
@ping
No. Their profit and loss shows they have made a (large) loss every year they have been in business. This is different to being committed to research and development and ploughing every penny back into research. They claim high degrees of business success in the past but there seems to be little evidence of it.
I am happy to say I am ignorant of the nuances of marketing and PR. Maybe one of the Steorn apologists better versed in such things could explain to me the benefit of keeping the details of a PR event secret until it’s actually happening?
Arguing that ‘they don’t need PR if they have an OU machine’ is all well and good. I agree with you wholeheartedly. Why are they staging events, taking out adverts and pandering to a forum if they have such a machine?
I think the bannings were made under the assumption that everyone would be quiet and find another distraction. Low activity on fizzx would make this a safe bet. They didn’t account for this place. I wonder what they’re going to do now that they’ve failed to lure back any sceptics?
My accelerator is working well – nice and stable at 1mA. Doing my first 4hr irradiation as I type.

Wait, are you serious? Sean said that book contains the reason why the forum is important? So the forum is just a practice area for Mushroom Management? Wow, didn't realize that he was so honest!
@15-India-Street
Fairly certain ping2000 from above post is actually ping7 as in "The name is 7, 007".
He thought if he posted and used a twist on your old Steorn Forum handle it would fool us all.
Sigh.

If thats aimed at jwk_13 you will find, by a simple search, that jwk_13 recieved abuse and responded without abuse.

Yes.
I once asked Sean why the forum was so important to him and he reccomended i read The Soul Of A New Machine, and after i begged a little, sent me a copy.
My favourite quote =
"Some of the kids don't have a notion that there's a company behind all of this It could be the CIA funding this. It could be a psychological test." (top of page 226)
best of.
I am Ping2000 and have had this ID for years and I certainly not Bond. Dont confuse me with him together. Apreciated.

It is impossible to announce the date for the demo as there would be too much focus on the large hole in the floor under the demo concealing a large magnet in the run up to the demo. Once it has been covered over expect a press release.
