3pm Update Video

Here is the Q&A session on video, thanks to Zen Master Lee in Steorn's Forum:

Sean states that due to this blunder, which he takes full responsibility for, there may be a need to re-evaluate their cryptic approach. Who knows what will happen next.

Also, Sean mentions that the engineers are still working on fixing the problem, but he's not going to commit to a deadline for when they get it working. He even suggested that next week is possible.

Update:
meta just posted this analysis on Sean's watch bearings comment:

What I found curious is Sean said they were using bearings from the watch industry, which are usually "jeweled bearings", they are designed to give very low drag-a jewel with a steel pivot running in it There are some small plain and ball bearings used too but...even small 1/4" x 1/8" neos throw some big shock loads when you run them past each other. I do not see watch type jeweled bearings surviving very long, they are not designed to take much load, or shock, at all. Nor do I have much confidence in any other tiny small bearing used in watches... this revelation about watch bearings just boggles my mind.

Bearings, Bearings, Bearings, Bearings, Bearings.........

Try selling it a little harder.

And what is this Bullshit about the START/STOP unit being too fragile to travel?

In fact, as of April 14, the demo was originally supposed to show the START/STOP if the continuous motion unit was not ready yet! Sean you are a liar!

Sorry, maybe it was another 550bhp 'misconception'. You decide.

http://www.steorn.com/forum/comments.php?DiscussionID=55851&Focus=2105661

hi Sean- do you promise that come July if the constant motion version is not ready you will still demo the original "start/stop" device?

The demo will happen, we fully expect to have a constant speed device, if not we will demo a 'stop-start' device.

----

I guess if I'm generous I could say you did show an incomplete unit which you claim to be a constant speed device.

Stationary is a constant speed.

At least Dennis Lee puts on a show.

*** EVERYONE! PLEASE DOWNLOAD AND SHARE THIS VIDEO ASAP - PENDING DMCA TAKE-DOWN NOTICE EXPECTED FROM STEORN ***

Steorn/McCarthy are currently drafting a DMCA infingement notice, which will force Google Video to immediately take the video offline, within the next day or so. Why would Steorn do this?

Here's my careful analysis of the Sean McCarthy failure video:

1) At 1:22 and 7:42 on the video, McCarthy vigorously scratches his nose while mentioning "the other systems" they've been using on site. I suggest he's lying here, as nose-touching is a well-established 'tell' for liars. *Footnote 1

2) The assembled press seems very subdued and understanding of the failure, asking only one or two hardball questions ("Is there video of this thing ever working?" answer=no) and begin laughing with Sean past the 10-minute mark. I've never seen a group of more silent reporters - they're here for the story of the century, they get nothing, their time is wasted, yet they appear happy to laugh along with Sean McCarthy. I think this shows the media scrum was primarily selected by McCarthy, with preference for free-energy media lapdogs. (Oh yes, they do exist.)

3) McCarthy repeatedly personalizes the failure, bringing the fault upon himself instead of the technology. "It's all my fault, I'll take it on the chin" he says -- then goes on with sketchy technical details about why the demo failed... very contradictory here, which is another sign of lying.

It is my personal opinion that Sean McCarthy is a con-artist, and Orbo is a scam.

If you have any other careful video analysis to add to this, please contribute to this thread.

The body language Sean displays IS odd. My sense was more of someone trying not to giggle. Little smirks that don't fit the nature of the situation. Not sure this points to fraud/scam/hoax but it does not look like he is convinced by his own story.

Unfortunate that no one managed to get even a few frames of the Orbo running in the box before it froze. On this I call BS. Just look at Seans reaction to the question about it.

Also, why was there no mention of the start-stop orbo being too fragile to travel until now? Darn convienient.

Additional to my last -

I think it's important to note that the "hot lights" excuse has been used before by a con artist, who was busted by none other than James Randi back in the 1980's. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlfMsZwr8rc (It's a long video, but well worth seeing this scammer fail and stutter when Randi produces foam chips... you watch it!)

I forgot one last thing in my last post - a very important prediction:

The next demo by Steorn will also fail, due to some dramatic claim of outside influences.

I predict that if Sean McCarthy ever shows up for another Orbo demo, some dramatic scene or external force will again prevent him from demonstrating the Orbo technology.

My feeling is that it will be some staged violent danger, related loosely to some terrorist threat, that causes McCarthy to retreat again with his unproven technology.

This is how a psychopath con-artist like Sean McCarthy thinks and operates.

What happens when he disappears with 3 million dollars of company money? Maybe he thinks he can escape and have a good life in the tropics.

But me, I'm an older guy, ex-mil, and I can catch him. When McCarthy does a runner - which I'm positive he'll do to avoid jail - I'll catch the bastard for the highest bidder. Any takers?

I agree about the body language here, it was very negative. For example, the question "Have you ever had it running?". Sean steps back, looks down, puts hand in pockets.

The stuff about bearings indicates 100% that this device is a hoax, common to all PMM. Why does the device need to be so low friction? If energy is generated then friction should not be a problem. If a device cannot overcome its own friction, then it cannot produce useful work. In fact, what these people do is create a low friction device which is capable of free-wheeling for a long time by itself, and only requires a tiny amount of energy to keep it running. The tiny energy could be provided by numerous means and easily hidden.

Another problem I have is that by showing a transparent device, they are effectively disclosing their invention, which would (should) invalidate their patent application.

Sean has talked about "cat and mouse", and "cryptic approach". This also says a lot about Sean management ability. Creeping about like this looks dishonest.

Giving them the benefit of the doubt, it looks like they think they have discovered a small effect, which they can't yet turn into a usable device, nor can they get a patent for. Hence the reason for taking a long time "investigating different configurations". They're only chance of profiting is to get a large chunk of investment money to continue working on it. It's a wild goose chase of course.

I personally don't have a problem with free energy claims or with the pursuit for inventing a clean and limitless energy source.
This is how progress is made in science, by challenging old stale ideas and discovering new ones. Imagine the spin offs you'd get from such efforts.

What bothers me really is the way in which the whole steorn claim was handled (yes WAS, its over now). It has GREED written all over it. The poor inventor was never mentioned, he is perhaps gagged down by NDAs and legal stuff. Marketing, investments and PR took front stage and the tech itself was forgotten. CEO (Sean) is the most incompetent person in the whole gang, it seems. The way he lies, the way he is unable to explain the technical things and the cunningness/dishonesty he shows, all point to only one thing -- even if there is any real tech, it will be used for making money, not for everyone's benefit.

Assume that, real or fake, its already been suppressed.

He is sitting on it since last 4 years now.
The pump in africa is pumping dry air since 1 year....
The jury(if there is any) is just sitting since 6 months, waiting for the data/device to be tested, while their names are being used for PR and brainwashing.
The spdc is still being shown nothing but a dangling carrot. These poor guys don't even realize that they are being used as pawns for marketing and attracting more investment.
There won't be any real demo's. A spinning wheel don't show anything. They wont be able to show a power producing machine, they don't have one simply.

Expect even more idiotic excuses than lights stopping the 400% overunity machine in future. Sean will eventually collect his 'hard earned' money and disappear silently...very soon.

Some people can fall so low for money....

ebswift posted this in the Steorn forum. It makes more sense to me than anything I have seen there - or here.

I've thought about this for a couple of days without posting much about the non-event of the demo at all - so that I could think properly about it first before throwing what I think for what it's worth into the ring.

The Kinetica scenario that I believe is right (which is the same as Steorn is telling it) is that the device stopped operating, it was repaired, then suffered another failure.

At that point an executive decision was made to halt the demo and direct energies into examining the reasons for the failures and the likelihood of preventing further failures. Sean admitted that he directed a timeline that was far too compressed. I wouldn't call it ambitious, but I would label it using words like cocky and overconfident - not that I would really overly blame Sean for it because it's probably as a result of successes in the lab where presumably a feeling of being able to make these devices come into being at will is routine. But management is management and when you're the boss and you decide to compress timelines you should expect things to go wrong - Murphy rarely misses an opportunity. So it is definately something I would consider a mistake.

Worse than not having anything to show at the demo is having a disc spinning for 5 minutes for all the world to see on those four streaming cameras, and for the disc to stop - resulting in the entire skeptic world jumping around saying I told you so. The headlines would be on all major news services, not just in the local paper, and the headlines would read "Live Perpetual Motion Demo Stops in 5 Minutes". That is the type of embarassment that gets your ass kicked in a worldwide media frenzy. If the thing worked you would be hard pressed getting the media to take notice, but fail and the world stands up and takes notice.

Pulling (or at least stalling) the demo is the best decision they could have made. In Australian media there is no mention of any failed demo in London, and if it is published here it would be in an obscure publication. Even where it may find a place in mainstream international media, the worst any reporter can legitimately say right now (jokes aside) is that the demo was pulled before it began and everybody's disappointed.

And yes, I'm a hopeful skeptic, certainly not an outright believer.

So get to the bloody point I can hear you thinking at the monitor!

Steorn hasn't told any outright lies that anyone can prove at this point so I will stake my bet that Sean is not lying - he is telling us the truth. Even if there are parts missing from the truth I think fundamentally he has told us the reasons which are relevant. Based on past statements they have made on these forums where I thought privately they were outright lying, they surprised me (and most of us) by showing that they don't just BS around and immediately showed indisputable evidence to back up their statement. They do this from time to time. They may be vague and sometimes unreliable with dates etc. but we can't classify them as liars.

Thats because you stick your fingers in your ears and go "la, la, la, la, I can't hear you" when presented with one.

Spend some time reading the post and links on this fine site and you will see at least five well referenced LIES by Sean. (and many more that are suspicious)

That or you and Babcat are kindred sprits.

Apparently Steorn have retracted the ludicrous claim that the lights were too hot, and now say that they just "don't know why it doesn't work". The story out in the media is the "hot lights" stopped it working. That's about as close to lying as you can get.

That also gives us the answer to why the demo was pulled after a few days. They tried everything they knew, and ran out of ideas. That says they don't really understand the effect - or that there simply is no effect.

Gut check time. Are you going to continue to lie to yourself, or do you finally have the guts to face the truth?

On June 30, you said

Quote
What I find odd is that anybody thinks the demo could possibly be of a device that just spins without pulling a load.

Do you think Steorn is so stupid that they would demo a device like that? They would be laughed out of town.

And why would they allow DrMike to poke around the device if it's just a low-friction device that doesn't do any work?

At least give Steorn credit for some brains.
Endquote
------------------------

I then asked you;

Quote
@Couldbe

1. Driving a load.
2. Letting Dr. Mike physically touch and examine the device.

So, if both these things don't happen in July, can I assume that you will become a complete skeptic?
Unquote

You responded;

Quote:
If 1. doesn't happen I will become a rabid skeptic who thinks they are charlatans running some sociological study or God knows what.

If only 2. does not happen, I will be disappointed and climb up on the fence.
Unquote
-----------------

We now know that the device was not going to drive a load. Furthermore, the no-load device didn't work!

Can I presume that you've now become a rabid skeptic?

If you've changed your mind and still believe that Steorn may have something, then you have fallen hook, line and sinker for the Sean-worshipping, self-denial, weak-mindedness of other gullible believers.

I don't know you in real life so it matters little to me. However, do yourself a favor. Do what you said you would do. Break free of the Steorn delusions. The longer you delude yourself, the harder it will be.

The demo never took place, but from the description of the device and what we could see of it, it looks like it was not going to drive a load.

I'm not a skeptic, rabid or otherwise as a result. I'd say I'm on the fence but still leaning toward belief that Steorn has what it claims.

You seem to think that that is equivalent to selling one's soul to the devil, or courting insanity. It isn't, and you take this stuff far too seriously.

If Steorn turns out tomorrow to have nothing, for whatever reason, I will have had an enjoyable time reading and taking part in the entertainment for the past year, and will look forward to the
documentary.

"Can I presume that you've now become a rabid skeptic?"

No use asking him, save your energy.
He must've become a firm believer after this 'demo'. This is how cult psychology works. The more you kick them, the more gladly they bend and take it.

Look at Babcat, he deserves a Darwin award while still alive.

You will hear them saying many times that they will leave the cult if this and that happens, but you'll never find them leaving it. On the contrary, they will stick even more firmly, because if they do, that will prove them wrong. Its a kind of defense mechanism that has gone cancerous.

Many religious and cult leaders use this 'disease' to have their own way.

"You can download the video by clicking the "Download" button on the right hand side of the video on Google's site "

Sorry, no. That only downloads Google's "header stub". To replay the video with that you must be on the internet AND the video must still exist on google.

I found some instructions for downloading videos from google which work -- they download the actual video in its original format (this one was .AVI).

Because Google ads a header to video files specifically to prevent them from playing in Microsoft Media Player, you can look at a link below for instructions on removing that header, or, more simply, use one of the many versions of "Media Player Classic" which is nice, reliable freeware.

Links:

Sourceforge version of Media Player Classic.

How to download Google videos.

From which I used this:

"DominicanZero said on May 1, 2006 10:38:00 AM PDT:

Actually, downloading video files from Google Video is extremely easy for Windows users, and there's no need of no bookmarklet or nothing -- not even the Google Video Player.

1. Get to the video you want to download.

2. Click on Download Video; this will probably ask you to download the Google Video Player, which you will not accept.

3. A download link for the .GVP file will appear, click on it and download the .GVP streamer file.

4. Open the .GVP file in any text editor, preferably one that supports UNIX-formatted, ANSI-encoded text. (notepad works fine but be careful, the place where the URL stops and ends is tricky to find and the URL is very long.)

5. You will see that the file contains several plain text fields, i.e. GVP version, duration, title, description, and the most important of them all: url. Copy the value of the URL field and paste it into your browser -- it'll automatically ask you to download the source file, no matter the format it was uploaded in (i.e. MP4, AVI, MPG, MOV, et cetera). "

And that's it. Note that the file will be of appreciable length (more than 10, typically 100 megabytes)... otherwise you probably made an error.

If you don't want to use Media Player Classic, read this portion of the "How to" link above to get more links:

"Because Google adds a special header to the videos, not all players can render them. A good player that doesn't give errors when trying to play Google videos is Media Player Classic. If you want to remove the special header, so that videos can be played with Windows Media Player, try this small tool." (the link to the tool is on the original web page and I am not reproducing the link here)

I'd prefer **not** to start a side discussion here about this. If you have problems, check with someone familiar with computer file structures.

Wow! The entire "demonstration" was a rank and obvious lie. Or perhaps you saw something we missed, like a spinning Orbo?

And can you point to a SINGLE tiny bit of "undisputable" **evidence** that Sean or Steorn have EVER provided? Have they have ever shown a device that worked? Plans from which one could be made? Anything to support their bizarre theory that magnetic viscosity has anything whatever to do with violating COE? What evidence of ANY sort has Steorn EVER presented?

Could it be, couldbe, that you're simply confusing CLAIMS for EVIDENCE? It's not an uncommon problem among "believers" but it's one that will get you into no ends of trouble in real life. Been scammed lately by phishing scams, theft rings, Nigerians? It's only a matter of time if you keep "believing" without evidence as you do.

LOL, I bet even that wont be enough for you. I could almost guarantee you that your next excuse would be something along the lines of "Steron had some new proven technology and the government came in to stop this new technology from reaching the world"

As someone who has been following free energy for years now, I can assure you this is the type of excuses conmen and their followers have used for years. The crazy thing is that not once has any of these conmen showed anything working but yet there are always blind suckers willing to follow their lies.

If they really had some new revolutionary technology all they would have to do is have a big open showing inviting everyone who want to come and they would be instant billionaires as well as change the world for the better. Instead its always one excuse after another why it doesnt work and they will keep making excuses to give themselves more time so they can con even more people out of their money.
