CEO vs CoE
The battle is about to begin. An anonymous poster here along with an anonymous emailer point us to this video:
As you can see from the video, Sean McCarthy is wearing a custom Steorn "CEO vs CoE" t-shirt, in front of some building smoking a cigarette. While the author of the video could have done a better job at showing us that they are actually at the Kinetica Museum in London, I'm sure someone here can verify the building.

This will be great : )
That's a shop outside of the Italian Quarter in Dublin 1...some people need to seriously get a feckin' life.
Who is the sad wa#%#@ who goes around videoing people without them knowing?
Cheap. Tacky. Disgraceful.
And the shirt?
And note that the "rolling film" effect is just that: an effect. Film rolls, but video doesn't.
"Cheap. Tacky. Disgraceful."
But entirely legal. You have no expectation or right of privacy on a public street.
" And the shirt? "
LOL (not to mention the smoking)
@maryyugo
Just because it's legal doesn't mean it's a good thing. Maybe If we sent a camera crew round to your house to look through your windows you'd change your ridiculous attitude.
Like I say.
Cheap. Tacky. Disgraceful.
That's in Dublin

You mean kind of like claiming free energy then stringing everyone along for a big con?
Here's what the Kinetica museum looks like (opened in October 2006 HMMMMMM).

Oh and here's what Alfie Mulligan's pub looks like at 104 Leeson Street, Dublin:

Wherever Sean was, it doesn't look like either picture.
Shrug!
I found this photo of the Spitalfields Market, I'm pretty confident the video was taken there.
I'm pretty sure you have to be one sad sack of shite to wait around and videotape someone outside of a building in Dublin and claim it was taken in London.
But being a sad sack of shite is the norm around this place.

this movie smells of viral marketing! Recall that when Steorn launched, they hired one of the most advanced media companies out there (Citigate Dewe Rogerson)- those people might still be at it.

And the corollary is that you have to be a liar to pretend it was taken in Dublin when you knew it wasn't.
That dude he's with is Mikey "The Slasher" Joslasky, VERY VERY nasty SOB. Joslasky is big time Russian Mafia. Jesus WTF is this?
Maybe his T-Shirt should have said "anonymous" then he would have been safe!
Smoking can seriously damage your stealth!

In Crisp Street to be more exact, checked it out on the way to work this morning, and McCarthy is standing where the number 1 is.

Some more analysis of this movie on my blog.
Mmmmm, chewing gum and smoking.
Yes, the orange shades right at the beginning are identical to the one in the Spitalfields pic posted by Steorn tracker above, ie: http://golondon.about.com//od/londonpictures/ig/Spitalfields-Market/SpitalfieldsOct06-5.htm

Reporter???
Bawbag, lowlife, sneaky ba$tard more like.
Those guys look pretty shifty to me, are we sure they are Steorn?
Looks like the documentary crew was having a little fun.
I found the Giraffe cafe at www.giraffe.net, their Spitalfields location is at 1 Crispin Place which would be on the East side of Spitalfields.
So in that case the video shows Sean & employee are slightly to the East of Kinetica.
However, I found one review photo of the Spitalfields Giraffe which did not show any orange canopies?? Could be out of date.

CEO vs CoE??
Mien Got, these people are buffoons.
I will of course be wearing my "FLD vs Gravity" t-shirt while I attempt to fly, completely unaided, off the top of a block of flats later.
I called Kinetica today, and they told me they would be open to the public 5-12th, with an exhibition they couldn't tell me about. "You'll just have to come and see!". Thank you, I will!
I was so tempted to ask to talk to Sean, but I didn't. :)
but wasnt the demo supposed to be 10 days? that doesnt rhyme with 5-12
It's 5th to 13th, its nine days, but ten if you include Sean showing the press on Wednesday 4th (press day) and the possibility that once they have left the big glass fishtank you might be able to get a sneak peak (or maybe not) and it is on Kinetica's website.
Yesterday evening they had hardly done anything, the floor was bare and there were a few boxes scattered around and some blue Orbo brochures in sight. That means today they are going to be working hard to get things set up, ship shape and Bristol fashion.
How many members of the press turn up is anyone's guess but there is a danger, having left it so late, that they'll get very little press coverage. Depends what else is on the wires tomorrow.
That's Irish reporter Eamon Dunphy he's with: http://www.marketing.ie/old_site/april_01/images/eamon.jpg

Hey show up wearing something that identifies your handle and I'm sure you will be flying off the top of a block quicker than you'd expect. Cowardly fook.
(hairykrishna)
Not at the science museum then? Back at the ‘museum of kinetic art’. How very surprising...
As I have said before, their ‘demonstration’ should be good for a giggle.
Here's what the museum said last December:

Are you are threatening me with violence on an internet forum? Bit sad that really.
Judging by your MySpace entry you barely look capable of supporting your own weight, let alone chucking people off buildings.
Good find James!
So who's going to be there???? I am hoping to see TONS of photographs and movies too, if possible. < hint, hint >
I'll let you know, I frankly cannot see how it is possible, but I have no arrogance regarding my understanding of how the universe works. If I was in London I would definitely give these guys a good hearing. Yes, they may be crooks but they are hanging it all out on the line, and no "poor" people appear to have been victimized, at least.
It's exciting; but then again, I've never run into a serious "overunity" claimant before.
Lastly, anybody else notice the second "Friday the 13th" date here? First was April the 13th, now it is July the 13th.
Hopefully July 7 (7/7/07) will be their lucky day...
Doesn't look like Eamon Dunphy to me. I'm crap with faces though. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eamon_Dunphy has a better pic)
What's the deal with this video? It appears to have artificially introduced 'film jumps'. It is too high a quality for a phone shot. Viral marketing? I doubt it - it makes Sean look shifty!
Get out clause? 'We were being hounded by unauthorised film makers so we withdrew the actual machine'
Doesn't seem right either. Bizarre.
I would hope everyone would calm down and stop wasting space by trading insults.
The fact is that significant production of "free" energy is quite easy to prove if it exists. Let's wait and see if Steorn really exhibits at Kinetica tomorrow, and whether what they exhibit is convincing.
Surely (Shirley) everyone can wait a day or two more without flying off the handle? There will probably be plenty of meaningful things to argue about when the presentation is available -- if it is.
Meanwhile, I'd like to suggest a benchmark that Steorn has to surpass-- the Finsrud device.
An interesting interview with its inventor.
My hunch is that it's one of these guys. The film does seem to include some effects. This is either a very dedicated Steorn stalker or a viral marketing thing.
I have no idea what that "effect" is, but it doesn't look ANYTHING like any of the "film effects". Looks more like miniDV/CD/DVD data transfer error, but if that was a phone camera.... I guess a simple camera malfunction.
It looks like it is the tall guy in the middle back of Steorntracker's photo.
Has Dr. Mike agreed not to comment on his testing until the device is presented to the public? That would make sense.
He is supposed to report to the spdc via webcam, so I guess we will all get to know the gist of what he tells them.
@bustinbilly
Dr Mike is under NDA, so he can't say anything about the Steorn tech, or his methods of testing, unless to someone else under a similar NDA.
"Dr Mike is under NDA, so he can't say anything about the Steorn tech, or his methods of testing, unless to someone else under a similar NDA. "
I don't think that's true. He can't reveal trade secrets told to him in confidence. He already has discussed his testing methods (magnetometers and accelerometers coupled to a laptop computer).
I can see no reason why he can't report in meticulous detail on what the public can obviously see thursday (if it happens). And he is certainly free to give an opinion on whether overunity has been demonstrated or not, and, again excepting trade secrets, he should be free to say why he thinks so and present evidence.
An NDA refers to specific secrets-- it's not a total muzzle.
Anyway, if Steorn shows a convincing demo of overunity, nobody will give a rat's testicle about NDA's.
The show will be a machine, that moves...could be an illusion, or trick for the sake of art...no body knows...
The believers will believe...
The skeptics will be skeptical...
In the end their won't be enough proof to decide one way or the other....
I think the video was a plant...Sean goes around with a T shirt that reads CEO vs. CoE? Come on! The video was a staged...
Steorn have stage managed everything so far, you would be naive to think this video was anything other than Steorn marketing.
Maybe they are a bit worried no-one is actually going to turn up.
The main giveaway that the video is staged is the attempt to make it look like the videographer was panning across and just happened to come across Sean, as if to imply "gee, look who I happen to have found here." No way. He knew Sean was there before he started recording, and the accidental-on-purpose discovery of Sean is downright insulting.
"Maybe they are a bit worried no-one is actually going to turn up."
Please excuse me while I point and laugh at you like a child who missed the potty by a few feet in grade school.
"Steorn have stage managed everything so far, you would be naive to think this video was anything other than Steorn marketing"
------
Sure. The idea, that some person, interested in Steorn, recorded 18 sec. video of Sean smoking is a sheer impossibility. Such an elusive creature that Sean is!
Well, to be fair, if I made a video zoomed out like that I would not have necessarily started out zoomed right in on the right guy; I probably would have started up the camera and panned around a little searching for the right target myself. It depends on the camcorder and eyepiece. The flicker effect is phoney, that part is for sure.
Actually I would have gone over and said "Hi Sean! What's up??" on camera. Who cares what he thinks, what's he gonna do, bop me in the nose? I also would have banged on the glass of Kinetica and said "smile guys! Hey what the heck!" stuff like that. Heck everybody films differently. Some people like video effects, I personally don't. I also don't post video onto You Tube. We're all different, that doesn't necessarily "prove" something is fake or not.
I also would have panned over the museum name or the street name or something just to definitively prove the location; but, that's just me. Some people are not so smart :)
You try filming someone with a zoom lens and capturing them straight away! You have to pan along to find people. The video is real, the videographer has nothing to do with Steorn, but simply put two and two together and worked out that Kinetica was the logical location, (no way would any mainstream museum associate itself with Steorn) and 4th was a logical start date, meaning set up had to be 2nd and 3rd. Simple enough to scope the place out and catch McCarthy on a smoking break.
What is interesting is to watch your pathetic little conspiracy theories develop as opposed to accepting something at its most obvious face value. Next theory will be that Sherlock is a plant of Big Oil.
It shows one that REGARDLESS of what happens this week, some of you will be unconvinced and some of you will be 100% sold on Orbo.
And the flicker effect is not phoney. Just an old camera and a cheap digital tape.
Once again: there is NO any kind of "effects" in this video.
For bad editing, unexplainable pannings, tape/cd/camera artefacts and other examples of amateur video works go to www.youtube.com
If this presumed Kinetica show takes place, I don't they will lack for visitors. Their web site has had millions of "hits".
What can be more fun than seeing a juicy scam exposed or, way less likely, a whole new technological discovery launched?
I also would have panned over the museum name or the street name or something just to definitively prove the location; but, that's just me. Some people are not so smart :)
I thought it would be more fun to watch you gossip like a Woman's Circle and coming up with all sorts of wacky conspiracies, suggestions of viral marketing and complaints about privacy.
If Steorn are that great at marketing then over the next few days we'll see the world's press pay attention. Personally I think they've made a serious error of judgement and will get four-fifths of f'all in terms of press coverage. But we'll see...
Stand on Crispin Street yourself facing Brushfield Street and you'll see exact where the video was filmed.

Um, it was actually *ME* who filmed the piece? Not *you* Mr. Anonymous?
Sheesh!!
< grin >
PS I also already proved Steorn's claims, oh and I made a 1 W / cubic cm version already too, in fact it's powering my desktop computer right now (since my power supply crapped out awhile ago, I figgered what the hey). Mine hits 5,000 rpm as well.
Ranked 48,000
That hardly gives them millions of hits

@hairykrishna
Hairy,
bring your hat with you, I want to giggle while I watch you eat it.
Well, duh! Of course he knew Sean was there before he started recording. He was waiting for Sean to come out and have a ciggie break. And when he settled down in one place to have a smoke, he started recording. What's so difficult to grasp about that?
Once again - the "rolling effect" at the end is artificial, presumably added to enhance the "underground" nature of the video. Real dropouts on DV or Digital 8 tape due to head wear/clogging or damaged tape look and sound nothing like this.

Irish firm to put free-energy machine on display today
04/07/2007 - 08:20:59
The Irish company which claims to have designed a machine that creates energy from thin air is due to put the technology on display today.
Steorn claims its Orba device uses the interaction of magnetic fields to generate a constant source of free and clean energy.
If true, the technology would defy the laws of physics.
It is currently being tested by 22 of the world's top scientists, who are expected to conclude their review sometime next year.
In the meantime, Steorn is putting the Orba on display in London and on the Internet later today.
The Belfast Telegraph are first to break the news:
Irish firm to put free-energy machine on display today
They call it Orba, though.
Google News = Steorn
It seems that the great day has finally arrived!
http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/breaking-news/ireland/business/article2734631.ece
Steorn's Alexa stats do mean their website has had over a million hits.
I just went by the Kinetica Museum and spoke to a worker going out to lunch. He confirmed that they are setting up for a Steorn Orbo demo starting tomorrow. Will be announced at 6pm today.
So why are they at this very small art gallary and not at the science museum?
It lifts weights!!!
YaaHOOOOOOO!!!!
http://www.steorn.com/forum/comments.php?DiscussionID=58605&page=2
Because the Science Museum are so conservative (like most of the rest of science) that they have just missed the greatest scientific breakthrough in the history of mankind.
One way or another, Sean looks like a crook. And not on this video only, btw.
